Scientific Programme
The Paris 2010 AFVAC Congress is designed for veterinary generalists and for veterinary students reaching the end of their studies. A primary goal of the congress is to facilitate contacts between the aforementioned delegates and specialists.
The scientific programme is organized over three days, from Friday to Sunday, with an additional meeting scheduled on Thursday for veterinarians and breeders.
This year once again, we are pleased to present a series of high-level scientific events including :
- A general programme centered around a main topic, presented in two rooms simultaneously. This year's theme is “Chronic, rebellious, recurrent”. All speakers, chosen for their vast scientific knowledge and their strong pedagogical skills, will address the many, varied illnesses that veterinarians are faced with on a daily basis. The conferences will be scheduled in modules. Within these modules, there will be a mix of “state of the art” presentations and shorter “zooms” focusing on particular issues in diagnosis or therapeutics ;
- Short communications, sources of original data, an opportunity to discover research as presented by the authors ;
- A forum for interns and residents with veterinarians dedicated to fostering progress in their profession, all looking towards the future of scientific knowledge ;
- Workshops presented by the various AFVAC study groups. This is a new offering for 2010, entirely designed by the study groups. The format is an interactive one, perfect for small-group discussions. These workshops will last for 90 minutes and will be led by two moderators, experts in the field. A maximum of 40 participants will be permitted to attend ;
- Symposiums, ideal moments for exchanges and summaries, organised by the Scientific Committee (addressing a wide range of topics including the new care pathway, animal protection, radiography equipment, and antibiotherapy). Certain symposiums may also be organised by the main partners of the Congress ;
- Finally, a veterinary nurse programme to promote the well-being and proper training of veterinary nurses, regardless of the type of hospital or clinic where the nurse is employed ;
- And two modules specifically designed for (and with the assistance of) our AFVAC juniors.
See you soon in Paris,
Dominique Fanuel-Barret,
President of the Scientific Committee
