The Exotic Pets Programme :
an exceptional batch of conferences for an exceptional congress

Exotic pets are entering the clinics more frequently than ever before, the field continues to develop, and methods of care are evolving and improving more each year. It's a perfect time to make room for these animals at a European congress. The Lille 2009 Scientific Committee vowed to do so !
The Exotic Pets Scientific Programme for the Lille 2009 FECAVA Eurocongress promises to be one of the richest ever planned for a FECAVA congress, including a wide variety of both conferences and interactive workshops.
The theme of the congress fits perfectly : “Anything but dogs, or cat, mouse, and company.”
An exceptional batch of conferences for an exceptional congress !
This year, our congress will offer an unprecedented amount of conferences, short communications, residents' forums, interactive workshops (and more !) dealing with exotic pets, from both a medical and surgical perspective.
Renowned speakers
The Eurocongress is open to all of our European colleagues, and several prestigious speakers from throughout Europe have agreed to join us :
- Ruediger Korbel (Germany) will take us on a journey through the eye in his presentation on avian ocular diseases.
- Jan Hooimeijer (The Netherlands) will attempt to solve some of the mysteries of parakeet behaviours.
- Zdenek Knotek (Czech Republic) will discuss his experiences in reptile medicine and hospitalisation.
- And not to forget Leen Verhaert (Belgium), who will share her knowledge on rodent and rabbit dental diseases.
We will indeed take great pleasure in hearing from the most well-known European specialists in the exotic pets field. Various exchanges, debates, and the sharing of knowledge are all at the heart of this Eurocongress.
A great number of French veterinarians (a mix of teachers and practitioners) will also give presentations in the fields of reproduction, dermatology, cardiology, oncology, hospitalisation, and exotic pets vaccinations.
Both the high scientific level and the variety of conferences offered at the Eurocongress will make it a truly unique, rare, and exceptional time to learn more about exotic pets medicine.
Exotic pets and the interactive workshops
The members of the Eurocongress Scientific Committee took special care to include several interactive workshops about exotic pets in the general programme. Time to put all those studies into practice !
Extra examinations are often necessary, and among these exams are those from the medical imaging field.
An interactive workshop dealing with medical imaging of small mammals, birds, and reptiles will be offered at the congress.
This workshop will allow delegates to discuss detailed radiography, endoscopy, and ultrasound cases concerning these kinds of animals.
A bi-level programme
As the need for exotic pet care is increasing, practitioners must be ready to welcome these animals into their clinics. Each delegate at the congress should be able to find an exotic pets conference that corresponds best to his or her needs and expectations.
Therefore, the Scientific Committee set up this year's programme to include two levels of conferences : “refresher” and “advanced”. In this way, delegates can choose the themes they feel they need to “polish” the most, for each group of animals including small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
From anaesthesia to hospitalisation, gynaecological pathology to infectious diseases, ophthalmology to dermatology – nearly all disciplines will be covered. We hope that this wide range of choices will fulfill your expectations !
As is the case each year, an ambiance of productive exchanges and conviviality will be the norm. Join us to discover more about treating these special kinds of animals !
